Please note: Taking courses for the purpose of transfer is only recommended if the college or university to which you intend to transfer credit is one of the following:

  1. a Florida Public college or university
  2. a private Florida college or university that participates in the State Course Numbering System (SCNS)
  3. a college or university accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission

In addition, applicants currently enrolled in a degree program at another such college or university must first obtain prior approval from that institution’s advising department prior to enrolling in courses.

Course Transferability

If you are not currently enrolled in a college, or you are enrolled in a college that does not participate in the Florida State Course Numbering System (SCNS) for college courses, then you should contact us once you have completed this application. Our Guest Student program allows undergraduate students to enroll with Doral College for the purpose of transferring lower-division credits back to a Florida public college or university in which they are enrolled in a degree program. This option is also available for students who have been accepted to a degree program at a Florida public college or university, and wish to take courses in the meantime.

Associate of Arts Program Summary

Doral College’s Associate in Arts program provides students a solid foundation in the core areas of English, mathematics, natural science, social science, history and humanities, with opportunities to explore areas of interest through elective offerings. Student are prepared to communicate effectively, to think critically, and to access and use information from multiple sources. The Associate in Arts is a great choice for students who wish to continue to the DC Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, or intend to transfer to a Florida public college or university.

Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (BSEE) (Non-FL) Program Summary

Doral College's BSEE is a four-year program designed for aspiring educators outside the state of Florida. This comprehensive program will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to begin a career in elementary education.

The BSEE requires students to widen their base of knowledge and understanding through content and methods courses in Mathematics, Science, Reading, Art, Music, Health, and Social Sciences. The program also incorporates character education and soft skills like communication, adaptability, and critical thinking with the aim of developing well-rounded, effective educators able to teach diverse populations, including English Language Learners and students with exceptionalities. Courses are delivered via a fully online, asynchronous format, using dedicated student support tools like an extensive online library, quality online tutoring, and technical support.

Please Note: Each state establishes the requirements for teacher certification for their state. We strongly encourage students and prospective students to contact the licensing body in the state where they plan to practice for information about licensure and certification requirements. Doral College cannot guarantee whether the curriculum meets the educational requirements for licensure or certification for any particular state.

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree is an innovative four-year program for those interested in pursuing careers in all areas of the business field. The BBA prepares students for the world of business with a curriculum designed for life outside the classroom.

Coursework includes a range of business topics covering management, information systems, marketing, entrepreneurship, and finance to meet the demand for business graduates with cross-functional abilities.

Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (BSED) (FL ONLY)

Program Summary

Doral College's BSED program will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to begin a career in elementary education. The program is FLDOE-approved and leads to a Professional Educator's Certificate in grades K-6 with endorsements in Reading and ESOL. This approval ensures graduates of the program emerge ready to succeed in the elementary classroom setting so their students can do the same.

The program places a unique emphasis on practical learning from beginning to end, providing extensive opportunities for field experience in which aspiring teachers are paired with master educators at various partner schools. Courses are delivered via a fully online, asynchronous format, using dedicated student support tools like an extensive online library, quality online tutoring, and technical support.

The BSED requires students to widen their base of knowledge and understanding through content and methods courses in Mathematics, Science, Reading, Art, Music, Health, and Social Sciences. The program also incorporates character education and soft skills like communication, adaptability, and critical thinking with the aim of developing well-rounded, effective educators able to teach diverse populations, including English Language Learners and students with exceptionalities.

As per the FLDOE, the program requires passing scores in all applicable FTCEs for program completion.

While this is a two-year academic program for students entering with an Associate in Arts*, Students who do not yet meet that requirement can begin with the College's A.A. program and articulate directly to the BSED.

Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (BSED) Admissions Requirements

  1. Hold an AA degree from Doral College or another nationally or regionally accredited institution OR 60 credit hours of lower division coursework (36 general education and 24 electives courses); minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher required;
  2. Have completed of the following lower division prerequisites:
    • EDF 2005: Introduction to Education
    • EME 2040: Introduction to Technology for Educators or acceptable Substitute
    • EDP 2002: Education Psychology or acceptable substitute
      • Minimum grade of “C” in prerequisite courses required
  3. Have demonstrated mastery of general knowledge by passing all subtests of the General Knowledge Test of the Florida Teacher Certification Examination to include:
    • Essay
    • English Language Skills
    • Reading
    • Mathematics
  4. Complete the application process, including signing an enrollment agreement.

Educator Preparation Institute (EPI)/Initial Certification Program Summary

Doral College’s newly state-approved Educator Preparation Institute (EPI)/Initial Certification program provides an alternate pathway to teacher certification in grades K-12 for non-education majors and career changers who hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. The EPI helps meet an urgent need in the community for certified teachers by providing interested candidates the coursework, guidance, and support necessary to earn certification and pursue a career in the classroom, including the added value of a Reading Endorsement. This program option is also appropriate for those seeking to complete certification requirements through individual education courses.

Non-Degree Seeking - Endorsement

Endorsement Description

Doral College offers coursework covering the Competencies necessary to obtain the Florida Endorsements in Reading, ESOL, and Gifted. These options are available for certified teachers interested in learning the skills necessary to effectively teach these populations. Applicants who take the full sequence of courses in any respective area will be eligible to apply to the state to have the appropriate Endorsement added to their certificates, thereby expanding their skillset and career potential.

Doral College offers education courses in a variety of areas that can be used for enrichment and teacher recertification, including foundational and content and methods courses, as well as courses in areas such as ESOL and Reading. Applicants can select from current offerings to enroll in courses that meet their needs and interests.

These courses can be used to fulfill the professional preparation requirements necessary to earn a Florida Professional Teaching Certificate. Applicants holding a Statement of Eligibility (SOE) will be guided in course selection as necessary to comply with the requirements of each certificate, enabling them to pursue a successful career in the classroom.
