Program Summary
Doral College's BSED program will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to begin a career in elementary education. The program is FLDOE-approved and leads to a Professional Educator's Certificate in grades K-6 with endorsements in Reading and ESOL. This approval ensures graduates of the program emerge ready to succeed in the elementary classroom setting so their students can do the same.
The program places a unique emphasis on practical learning from beginning to end, providing extensive opportunities for field experience in which aspiring teachers are paired with master educators at various partner schools. Courses are delivered via a fully online, asynchronous format, using dedicated student support tools like an extensive online library, quality online tutoring, and technical support.
The BSED requires students to widen their base of knowledge and understanding through content and methods courses in Mathematics, Science, Reading, Art, Music, Health, and Social Sciences. The program also incorporates character education and soft skills like communication, adaptability, and critical thinking with the aim of developing well-rounded, effective educators able to teach diverse populations, including English Language Learners and students with exceptionalities.
As per the FLDOE, the program requires passing scores in all applicable FTCEs for program completion.
While this is a two-year academic program for students entering with an Associate in Arts*, Students who do not yet meet that requirement can begin with the College's A.A. program and articulate directly to the BSED.
